DEGRADABLE Single-Use DINNERWARE

The proprietary FDA compliant additive that allows micro-organisms to consume the plastic in the EcosenseTM line is an active organic catalyst.

The additive ingredients include organoleptic-organic chemicals, cultured colloids and natural fiber in an Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer (EVA) carrier. The organoleptic catalysts break down the plastic material in 1 to 5 years.

The proprietary additive structures communities of micro-organisms into biofilms that produce necessary byproducts that breakdown long polymer chains (plastic) in both oxygen rich (aerobic) and in oxygen deficient (anaerobic) environments.

Q & A

What is Organoleptic?

Relating to an ingredient that produces an effect on the senses; particularly those of smell and taste.

In the case of the EcosenseTM additive, this FDA compliant organic ingredient essentially is what attracts the micro-organisms to the plastic material.

What is EVA?

EVA is a polymer that approaches elastomeric materials in softness and flexibility, yet can be processed like other thermoplastics. The material has good clarity and gloss, barrier properties, low-temperature toughness, stress-crack resistance, hot-melt adhesive water proof properties and resistance to UV radiation.

EVA is used in biomedical engineering applications as a drug delivery device. These devices are used in drug delivery research to slowly release a compound over time.

As stated above, EVA is the EcosenseTM additive carrier.

What is a colloid?

A colloid is a type of mechanical mixture where on substance is dispersed evenly throughout another.

The colloid allows the EcosenseTM additive to be evenly distributed throughout the plastic.
